No Pain Propane

It appears that summer has finally arrived in Oregon. But maybe I shouldn't speak too soon, I've been fooled before. Then again, I'm already complaining that it's too hot and too dry. Global warming? I'm not concerned because I've heard there is a new Dick Cheny program to lower the rising temperatures by switching from Fahrenheit to Celsius.

I am supposed to be writing a newsletter, but having just purchased a new gas grill, I now have new priorities. I'm learning how to use it properly on everything, even the two squirrels in my backyard that have been asking for it all year. (I hear they taste like chicken.)

I also read recently that there will be a tax on grilling in Wallonia, a French-speaking region of Belgium. Experts said that between 50 and 100 grams of CO2 is emitted during barbequing. Beginning June of this year, residents of Wallonia have to pay 20 euros for a grilling session.

The local authorities are monitoring compliance from helicopters, whose thermal sensors will detect burning grills.

So they are using CO2 spewing helicopters to fly over neighborhoods to look for CO2 spewing grills. It maybe that the idea has spread to the US, because I think that's a DEQ helicopter that has been circling over my backyard all weekend.
