We've Got Wine!

It's dark; it's wet; it's raining; it's February. It's Oregon!! The sun is only a fond memory. We've all got colds; we've got a war on the way; no more having to pay for those pesky government services like police and teachers. Who cares? We've got WINE!

Guy du Vin has some great wines to offer you this week. We have another wine from the Côtes du Rhône region of France to follow up on that delicious Brusset from the last newsletter. We have one of my favorite wines from South Africa that is an exclusive from Guy du Vin. It will make you forget about California cabernet blends.

If you missed the dinner at Bluehour with Annegret Reh-Gartner of Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt last week, you missed a great time and a fun get together with some very nice people. You have only yourself to blame for missing these wonderful wines. The food was outstanding. We are offering a couple of very special wines from Kesselstatt in this newsletter.

And finally:
We recently opened a bottle of the Domaine Deshenrys, Coteaux du Languedoc 2000 which we sold out of when we offered it a few weeks ago. The wine is back in town, and Guy du Vin has the lion's share of the little bit that came in.

The wine was so good that I had to write about it again. It has only gotten better since we offered it in early December. It has gotten "prettier", more feminine and focused. It is showing a little more perfume and more red fruit as opposed to the black fruit it was emphasizing when I last tasted it. It is still a big wine, rich and powerful, but it is really beginning to show elegance and style. It has never been my intention to give you the hard sell on any wine we offer. But this is an inexpensive wine that drinks like an expensive one. If you want to try a wine that defines what we mean when we talk about value wines, the Deshenrys would be it. Plus, it will only get better for the next couple of years. DON'T MISS THIS WINE. BUY A CASE OR AT LEAST SIX BOTTLES. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
