Halloween is over. Most of us have taken down our Halloween decorations and Halloween lights. We are freezing the leftover candy to see if we can get another year or two out of it. The radio has stopped playing all our favorite Halloween songs. And some of us are busy preserving all the leftover "trick-or-treater" parts that we didn't finish for our Halloween dinner. Such a sweet time of year!
Thanksgiving is next on the list of holidays and it is coming fast and furious. Time passes much too quickly for us at Guy du Vin. We feel ourselves getting older. Everything hurts and what doesn't hurt doesn't work. My back goes out more often than I do. (I know this is an old joke, but I save my best material for those who actually order wine from us.)
Drinking wine is a very civilized thing to do. Especially since you can do it sitting down. It's even more civilized if you have someone to actually pour your wine for you. One of the more civilized and urbane things about Guy du Vin is that you don't even have to go to the store to buy the best wine in the market. Why? Because we deliver! O.K., you still have to get out of your chair to answer the door, but that's a darned sight better than having to fight traffic just for the opportunity to listen to snotty sales people at a wine shop or even worse, having to pick your wine from the generally uninspiring selections at your local grocery store, with no help at all.
