We know we put a lot of demands on you, making you drink wines from unusual places and from producers you have never heard of before. But, isn't it great to know that the wine you have bought from us is the real thing and not something some marketing company convinced you to buy? The hand picking; harvesting at night; the commitment to pesticide and chemical free vines; the pyramids erected over the vines; all the planting in line with the geomagnetic forces; the green harvesting during the last third of the second quarter of the first Thursday after the full moon - it all makes a difference in quality and flavor.
And now since the Holiday's are closer, we think you are ready for the "big time". It's time for you to graduate to "Microbrew Champagne"!! To the "Single-Malts of Bubbly". Enter "farmer fizz" - Champagnes from grower/producers. These are wines from grape growers that produce their own Champagnes. Small production; unique; individual. Freedom Fizz!! Try these and they will make you stop and re-think Champagne completely! That is unless you have never thought about it before. If that's the case - it's always good to start at the top!
I don't want to take anything away from the big Champagne Houses (Mumm, Veuve Cliquot, Moet Chandon), but lets face it - the big commercial houses are NOT the whole story. Most of those wines are blended from grapes all over the Champagne region. Not that they don't taste good, but wouldn't you like to taste Champagnes that are made from the equivalent of "single vineyard" sites?
Champagne is the only wine that most producers try to get to taste the same from year to year. It's the only wine in the world where everyone thinks that is a good idea. Well, the big houses do make good Champagne but?in the real wine world, wine makers spend their lives trying to get their wine to express the vintage and the terroir. We at Guy du Vin want you to experience those niggling little out of the way Champagnes. How about a Champagne that pulls toward individuality?
The marketing moguls, in all their evil genius, have done us a huge disservice by selling Champagne as a beverage of occasion. Just exactly how many ships have you launched lately? CHAMPAGNE DOESN'T NEED AN OCCASION - IT IS THE OCCASION. (OK, we admit it's a little pricey for drinking every day, but we at Guy du Vin drink Champagne about once a week. And we've become better people because of it.) So stop thinking Champagne is only for weddings, New Year's Eve, and your anniversary dinner and remember that IT'S JUST WINE - BUBBLY WINE - BUT IT'S WINE FIRST - OR IT ISN'T ANYTHING!!
